About the Developing Daily series

ACHPER believes it is time to re-kindle the concept of daily physical education in Australian primary schools.

Developing Daily is designed for Year 3, 4 and 5 students and is built around three key areas:

- Foundation Body Movements (10 lessons)
- Games Skills and Game Play (20 lessons)
- Music and Movement (10 lessons)

Developing Daily is based on a class having 4 lessons per week. This allows for 1 free day to further develop areas of interest, other school activities such as sports days and most importantly to contribute to broader health and well being outcomes derived from across curriculum studies. The lessons can be easily adapted across the curriculum to make the learning of numbers, letters, reading, writing, and many other topics in the classroom more active and fun!

The Developing Daily lesson outlines promote regular, moderate to vigorous physical activity as recommended by research and the Australian Government. Embedded in all of the lessons are carefully planned activities developed sequentially to improve the basic movement skills that research tells us are good for stimulating brain development and learning generally but also form the foundations for on-going skill learning for sports, recreational activities and dance.

Other titles in the series will be available late 2011- early 2012
